{Holidays & Happiness}

I’ve just arrived home from a delightful classical orchestral concert that a two of my friends sisters played in. It was just delightful. I’ve had the last week off and shall be back to work on Friday (too soon!) but I’m just loving the holiday… I’m about to hit the sack so I’ll post this gorgeous little piece from Sarah Nicole’s blog.

{The Christian Life}

October 19, 2008 Clare 1 comment

The Christian life is the better life —
No, the Christian life is the best.
It gives you Someone to hold on to,
The only One Who can give you rest.
The Christian life is the only life
That gives you the strength to go on —
Someone in front, leading the way,
Gently guiding ‘till your battle is won.

The Christian life is full of hope,
And when life is over on earth,
The Christian life was designed to go on
Forever – the reward for earthly rebirth.

The Christian life offers atonement for sins.
There’s nothing else a Christian need do
Than confess in his heart and sincerely repent
Of his sins, and to just follow through.

The Christian life requires much,
But I hear the others ask more,
And our Creator loves us no matter what,
Even if you fall in your faith and
temporarily close the door.

The reason for this is the Christian life
Never does desert it’s own,
God’s word is written right on our hearts,
And He welcomes you at the foot of His throne.

In other words, if you need to talk
The Spirit of God hears you day and night,
His Spirit becomes part of your soul
The moment you step into His Light.

The good 'ole days

{The good 'ole days}

Oh! How busy life can get! I certainly do admire those bloggers out there who post every day. I just have no idea how they do it! I have read how the professionals get 3,000 + visitors per day. The secret they say? Post every day. Sounds simple, does’nt it? Now come back to the real life and… I just can’t do it. :)

Well there has been some magnificent posts flying ’round the blogosphere lately, here’s just a handful…

{Women as Gospel Workers}

August 24, 2008 Clare 2 comments

{Isn’t this a quaint photograph?}

My friends and I did a reading together this afternoon, from Testimonies Volume 6.  The chapter was entitled “Women to be Gospel Workers”.  My friends and I found it to be greatly inspiration, especially since we are ever looking for ways to share our faith with others, and be a blessing to our colleagues and coworkers.

“Many youth as well as older sisters appear shy of religious conversation.  They do not appreciate their opportunities.  They close the windows of the soul that should be open heavenward, and open their windows wide earthward.  But when they see the excellence of the human soul they will close the windows earthward, which depend on worldly amusements and associations in folly and sin, and will open the windows heavenward to behold spiritual things.  The Word of God must be their assurance, their hope, their peace.  Then they can say: ‘I will receive the Sun of Righteousness, that it may shine forth to others”

I though that illustration of opening and closing the windows of the soul to earth and heaven was a beautiful illustration of our our hearts must be consecrated.  I often as myself questions such as “How do I spend my free time?”  “How does the time that I spend in God’s Word amount to that which I spend chatting to friends ect.?” for examples.

“The wails of the world’s sorrow are heard all around us.  Sin is pressing its shadow upon us, and our minds must be ready for every good word and work.  We know that we have the presence of Jesus.  The sweet influence of His Holy Spirit is teaching and guiding our thoughts, leading us to speak words that will cheer and brighten the pathway of others.”

One of the subjects which often pervades our conversation as friends is how to make opportunities to share Christ.  To make our mind susceptible to opportunities to witness for Christ.  As we closed our little meeting we prayer that the Lord would lead us this coming week, that he would show us the way, that he would show us the opportunities in which we can radiate the happiness that comes from serving the Lord.

Each quotation taken from Testimonies Vol. 6 pg. 114-118 Women to be Gospel Workers

{Old Stirring Hymns}

August 17, 2008 Clare Leave a comment

In our church service today, we sang two old  hymns which I found very inspirational.  Below are the two stirring hymns that remind me of our true purpose.

Dare to be a Daniel
(Words & Music by Philip P. Bliss in 1873)

Standing by a purpose true,
Heeding God’s command,
Honor them, the faithful few!
All hail to Daniel’s band!
Refrain
Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
Dare to make it known.

Many mighty men are lost
Daring not to stand,
Who for God had been a host
By joining Daniel’s band.

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
Dare to make it known.

Many giants, great and tall,
Stalking through the land,
Headlong to the earth would fall,
If met by Daniel’s band.

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
Dare to make it known.

Hold the Gospel banner high!
On to vict’ry grand!
Satan and his hosts defy,
And shout for Daniel’s band.

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
Dare to make it known.

Yield Not to Temptation
(Words & Music by Horatio R. Palmer in 1868)

Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin;
Each victory will help you some other to win;
Fight manfully onward, dark passions subdue,
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.

Refrain

Ask the Savior to help you,
Comfort, strengthen and keep you;
He is willing to aid you,
He will carry you through.

Shun evil companions, bad language disdain,
God’s Name hold in reverence, nor take it in vain;
Be thoughtful and earnest, kindhearted and true,
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.

Ask the Savior to help you,
Comfort, strengthen and keep you;
He is willing to aid you,
He will carry you through.

To him that o’ercometh, God giveth a crown;
Through faith we shall conquer, though often cast down;
He Who is our Savior our strength will renew;
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.

Ask the Savior to help you,
Comfort, strengthen and keep you;
He is willing to aid you,
He will carry you through.
