1950's 'Dream Family'. How things have changed?

1950's 'Dream Family' How things change?

The days are getting a little warmer, the sun shines a little brighter and the roses are budding beautifully… Summers coming…

It almost seems as if summer has come to the world of blogging too. Fellow bloggers are producing some magnificent post hence I feel a need to not just add links to my post but create a seperate post for that. So we shall be adding a little feature called ‘Link roundup’ for the purpose of sharing encouraging, fun and interesting posts found through the week. If you’ve written a post that you’d like me to add, please contact me by leaving a comment or emailing me (efy.cpc@gmail.com) and I am more than happy to consider adding you to the list!

I hope each one of you are having a lovely week. Stay close to the Lord may he ever be your guide and stay!

{Old Stirring Hymns}

August 17, 2008 Clare Leave a comment

In our church service today, we sang two old  hymns which I found very inspirational.  Below are the two stirring hymns that remind me of our true purpose.

Dare to be a Daniel
(Words & Music by Philip P. Bliss in 1873)

Standing by a purpose true,
Heeding God’s command,
Honor them, the faithful few!
All hail to Daniel’s band!
Refrain
Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
Dare to make it known.

Many mighty men are lost
Daring not to stand,
Who for God had been a host
By joining Daniel’s band.

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
Dare to make it known.

Many giants, great and tall,
Stalking through the land,
Headlong to the earth would fall,
If met by Daniel’s band.

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
Dare to make it known.

Hold the Gospel banner high!
On to vict’ry grand!
Satan and his hosts defy,
And shout for Daniel’s band.

Dare to be a Daniel,
Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm!
Dare to make it known.

Yield Not to Temptation
(Words & Music by Horatio R. Palmer in 1868)

Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin;
Each victory will help you some other to win;
Fight manfully onward, dark passions subdue,
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.

Refrain

Ask the Savior to help you,
Comfort, strengthen and keep you;
He is willing to aid you,
He will carry you through.

Shun evil companions, bad language disdain,
God’s Name hold in reverence, nor take it in vain;
Be thoughtful and earnest, kindhearted and true,
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.

Ask the Savior to help you,
Comfort, strengthen and keep you;
He is willing to aid you,
He will carry you through.

To him that o’ercometh, God giveth a crown;
Through faith we shall conquer, though often cast down;
He Who is our Savior our strength will renew;
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.

Ask the Savior to help you,
Comfort, strengthen and keep you;
He is willing to aid you,
He will carry you through.
